12 things every politician should hear.

I think maybe it’s time that someone (guess it’s me) tells our politicians what they need to hear. There are at least 12 things that every politician should know about most of us. Here they are:
1.) You aren’t going to please everyone. In fact if you stop trying to please everyone and start doing things to make our country, counties, and states BETTER we will get over the fact that you did xyz that we didn’t like because things actually got done.
2.) President Bush is pushing an unpopular war that the majority of the U.S. citizens feel is not winnable. Just because you feel it’s a good idea to posture on the war (for or against)… I and many others won’t vote for you if it’s all you talk about. Ohhh…. by the way. If you are for the war. Kudo’s. Explain to me how you plan to balance the budget, improve education, increase police forces in the cities, and pay for it
No matter how most people feel about the war, if you don’t seem to understand the bigger picture you are just a posturing ass.
3.) Even old folks agree that our education system is broken. If you are going to pass Education Reform bills… how about providing the funding for it? It’s great that we are building schools all over the world. We have high school kids who can’t read.
4.) Most of us aren’t Liberal,Conservative, Democratic, or Republican. We are all a little bit of both… Let’s face it, our political parties aren’t so separate on ideology anymore either. We want you to DO something other than just talk. Compromise, work together.
5.) This is a biggy. Most of us believe in Global Warming. No matter what right wing Republican talk show hosts say. Even if we don’t believe in Global Warming we would like cleaner air, water, and healthier environments. Don’t talk about the environment, do something. I and most American’s realize that some nature must be destroyed or eliminated to provide for progress. But let’s say for a minute you diverted 2 percent of the national budget for 2 years to researching alternative methods of energy? Then for 5 years to provide the infrastructure?
6.) Do something about our trade deficit. It is a big deal and most of us are aware of it. If x dollars come in, and xx dollars go out every year that is a bad thing. We aren’t stupid.
7.) There are 6 items up there. Read them again outloud. We know you are a little slow, so while you are figuring out how to actually pass legit campaign finance reform, and lobbying rules so you don’t get rich at our expense - read them again.

What else should politicians know? Love to hear what you think.
Time to CLOSE the Borders and get rid of all the Illegals, they are a drain on our society, economy, and overall LIFE!!
We dont need to close the borders, jus privatize everything. put in the peoples hands. And leave gov’t out of everything cuz they do more harm than good!
Can’t argue with you there Alvin. Private Companies (with major bonus’s for reaching the goals and penalties for missing them) would do wonders for most of our Government Agencies.
1.) “doing things to make our country better” has led to taxes that take half of our income. Doing less might actually be better. Getting people to understand this, however, is a real challenge.
2.) To make war or not to make war is not the decision of the president, or of the people. It is the choice of the U.S. Congress (if you doubt this, read the U.S. Constitution). Balancing the budget? Not the president’s job — it is the responsibility of Congress. Read the Constitution. Improving education, increasing police forces in the cities? Not a Federal Government responsibility.
3.) Congress passes education reform bills. If education is broken, maybe it is because government at all levels lacks the ability to run things. How many people know the difference between an engine and the governor on an engine? Those who do know which can make things go.
4.) The problem is that most people ARE Democrats or Republicans — about 70% — and those in office DO do something and they do cooperate. They cooperate in spending a couple of trillion dollars a year, conduct wars, and get themselves re-elected. Your complaint, I would guess, is that they don’t do what you think they should do. That’s politics.
5.) Most people believe in Global Warming, and most people believe in the tooth fairy (at some point, at least). The question is, do most people stop driving cars to prevent the planet’s temperature from rising some miniscule fraction of a degree? No. Will they agree to force their neighbors to abandon cars? No. Will they allow government to create a program that pretends to solve the problem? Yes. Will it solve the problem? No. Will our descendants die from the heat? Hardly. They will move to Canada.
6.) America has had a trade deficit for decades. If it is such a big deal, how have we survived? And, since you mentioned it, while you personally may be a genius, most of us ARE stupid. And if you think otherwise, I wonder if you are really a genius.
7.) Politicians are a little slow (mentally) but very quick when it comes to ambition and appearances. They are smart enough to avoid any campaign reform or lobbying rules. And getting rich at our expense? You want them to NOT do that? Don’t elect them. Don’t expect the leopard to change its spots. Be realistic — it will prove less frustrating in the long run.
